Welcome to the Student Spotlight!
We will highlight students across the globe here who have done incredible things. These things can range from competitive achievements to beating diseases to innovations in our sport. Feel free to contact us if you have or know of any students that you think might qualify for our Student Spotlight!
The qualifications for the Student Spotlight! are pretty simple:
The child must be 15 years of age or younger, they must be currently enrolled in a martial arts program and actively training at least once a week, and whoever submits them must be able to prove their existence.
It’s been a very long road for Jeff. He was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago at age 5. Eighteen months ago he was deemed completely cancer free. Since he received his new lease on life he’s been training hard 3 times a week, every week in taekwondo in his hometown of Oneonta, New York. Just two weeks ago he received his blue belt – and it only took him a year and half to get to this point! We commend Jeff and hope him nothing but success, health and happiness in all of his future training and endeavors!
Shelly is the definition of a go-getter. At age fourteen she has been training for ten years and just won her 8th medal from tournament competition. She has been participating in tournaments for only three years but she is a ferocious brown belt at this point so it’s no surprise that she’s seen so much success. Shelly says that her ultimate goal is to compete for the US national team in the next few years and we think there’s no way she won’t! Best of luck to you, Shelly, not that you’ll need it!
